Cals Camera Repair

After asking a few Photographers where I can get my lens repaired they recommended Cal. I brought in two of my Canon lens for repair as they were dropped and could not function anymore. Cal was great in giving me a good price for it and was flexible enough to complete the job within my timeframes as I needed them urgently for a shoot. He fixed both lens by the next day and gave me a call to let me know they are ready for pick up. When I picked them up I was surprised he even had cleaned them. I am quite impressed by his service and definitely will look for Cal if I need gear repaired in the future. Thanks.

I have been going to Cal for film camera repairs for a number of years now. Great service, even if the issue is irrepairable, he always has a solution, whether it be a replacement Camera or other suggestions. Thanks again mate

I recently took my 35mm Pentax film camera in to Cal for a full service, and specifically asked for mirror cushions and seals to be replaced as well, and was quoted $165.Unfortunately, all that Cal did was take over week to do a basic clean (which I could have easily done myself) and said that nothing needed replacing - although my mirror cushions were clearly falling apart.He proceeded to charge me full price to get my camera back! This ‘service’ left me cheated and ripped-off, and I still need to find a repairer to do the work.

I had a not very old Olympus digital camera where the multi connector had detached from the circuitry internally and Olympus and another camera repairer advised Olympus no longer made the part required (the whole circuit board ?) and so the camera was effectively ready to add to our waste disposal challenge.Cal had a look at it and repaired the camera and it's functioning perfectly and did it for what I consider in the circumstances to be a reasonable price. The alternative was to buy a replacement camera with similar capabilities (zoom especially) which I'm estimating would have cost well in excess of $1000 ?See Cal for an assessment if you run into a similar situation.

Excellent service and really well priced for the time Cal puts into his work. Fixed my 30 year old Fuji mini which I thought was a long shot to get working again. But, he found the part and worked his magic! Will certainly seek his expertise in the future for any other camera repairs. Especially anything vintage/no longer in production. Thanks - jimmy

I arrived from NZ for 3 weeks holiday in WA and my trusty and well travelled Canon 24-104 L4 lens developed a comms error on day one when visiting Rottnest Island.Thanks goodness for google. A quick next day visit to make contact with Cal who quickly confirmed the problem, quoted a fair price repair and we agreed the go-ahead and a 10 day timeframe.I purchased an alternate new lens locally and arranged to call in and collect my filter the following day. I had a wonderful surprise when he handed me the perfectly refurbished lens with ‘I did a few yesterday and included this one’.It’s like new, smooth, tight and my favourite sharp travel lens is better than ever. The best lens service ever, miles from home and hassle free. I would never have expected such a positive lens fail experience. Thanks Cal.

If I could give him 0 stars I would. I sent my Grandmother's camera to him for the shutter speed button to be repaired, cost me $185 and he sent my camera back more broken than it was before. Won't reply to any emails or texts, horrible to deal with and don't trust sending my camera back to be fixed" again. Unfortunately I've just found friends with similar experiences. Don't recommend."

Just picked up my lens and couldn't be happier - Cal was very considerate and speedy as I need the lens for my work. Gave a very clear explanation of the issue and the need for repair. Price also reasonable in my view. Will go back if I ever need to.

Very helpful, reasonable prices and fast turnaround. Super honest, doesn't try to force additional repairs that you don't need. Will be back when I next break something!
